He, nor any other player, should be rushed to make a decision. If Silver is sweating who the Knicks or Lakers are going to play on opening night or on Christmas Day, that's the dumbest reason of all.
That said, it is tiresome how he, his camp, and his mouthpieces have so ham-handedly tried to make this look like a frothy process in which he holds all the cards. Starting with the "You can't fire me, I quit" notice that he wasn't coming back to the Lakers through the daily no-update updates Shams is being fed, there's been a real effort to make it look like he and Klutch still have sway and are trying to sift through a host of suitors who are franticly trying to optimize their teams to his liking so he might say, "Verily, I choose thee."
He improves any team he goes to, but he's not going to *any* team. As much as I love the idea of the All-Unc Warriors, it's Mami or Cleveland for some saccharine "back to where it started" narrative. To pretend otherwise means you have seven minutes to fill during a block of First Take.
He is, understandably, no longer the load-bearing piece supporting a title effort. These teams would like to have him, but not at his age, not at any price, and certainly not at the expense of their younger stars, job security, and future flexibility. What they can offer him today is substantially equivalent to what they could have offered him a month ago.
