Yeah, that's a big one because that's where forecasts happen for half the country.
Lots of wildfires on the Western Slope of Colorado, including one just north of Ouray, dubbed the "Switzerland of America." I'm heading down that way next week, but it's not good. Very dry after a terrible winter, hot temperatures and high winds.

The one time I went to Ouray, in the summer of 2021, it was scorching. And it turned out my hotel didn't have AC. I was supposed to stay three nights, but I bailed after one.

It's already miserable.
When you go outside at 5:30 a.m., and it's already 80 with 89% humidity, it's miserable.

Ditto in Washington state ... two fires this weekend prompted evacuations in Central Washington. Winds of 30 mph plus for several days straight, with gusts topping 50 mph, haven't helped.
To some degree, it's priests arguing over levels of devotion. Or Bluesky members trying to out-left each other.
DRINK!
Keep educating the other 80% about what can be done. Or move north to get out of the heat dome.

We really don't KNOW what can be done. Sure, clean is better than dirty, and heading in that direction always is a good thing whenever possible, if for no other reason because it's healthier. But to what extent any of it can reverse/slow down/stop climate change . . . we just don't know.*** It's one clinical trial after another.
***And that's assuming the rest of the world (India, Bangladesh, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, etc.) is completely on board. Hint: They're not.

The only reason it matters is because we have set up our lives to coincide with an average planetary temperature of 59F. Where we live. Where we grow what we grow, etc.
But the planet doesn't have a perfect thermostat setting set by God. The planet is habitable in average temperatures above 59F. Hell, we currently thrive in places that are minus-65F and places that are 115F. But ADJUSTMENTS will have to be made to accommodate higher average temperatures. We don't want to make those tough adjustments --- because let's face it, it's easier to buy a nice electric car and recycle weekly and say "I've done my part!" --- even though it's infinitely more doable than trying to alter the climate of a planet whose population grows by 14 million people EVERY WEEK.
