No, I did what I always do. I pointed out inaccuracies, such as the inaccurate statistics you used in your attacks on Arrieta. I pointed out the times you relied on misrepresenting his statistics to bolster your point, such as the five-inning Jake label for a pitcher who averaged over six innings per start this season. Arrieta wasn't as good as last season. I never argued that point, but you kept trolling on the issue all season and now you and LTL have dragged it here.

And JC, I believe Dickie was saying he doesn't understand my stance, not that he doesn't understand Arrieta's diminished performance. I don't know if anybody expected him to stay at last year's level. Of course, now that I explained it again, rather than let it go, he will probably keep going and **** all over this thread with it, too.

I would say a 4.44 ERA over his last 16 starts is a lot worse than "wasn't as good as last season." It's just over half of his season. Most guys with those numbers wouldn't be in the post-season rotation. You still think he's the No. 1 starter. You're free to keep pumping up his April and May performances. I'm guessing Maddon would do well to consider July, August and September when making out his post-season rotation.

One of these years, MLB is going to get burned bad, weather wise, with one of these all northern match-ups running into November.

Lots of ways to keep the season from extending into November ( or even late October).

Don't give away days during October --case in point, play both wild card games the same day.
If series end early, adjust the schedule.
Use head to head tiebreakers to decide regular season ties.
Move the season start up a week or two into mid March.

For the one sport that's truly hostage to weather, it seems a shame to play out the crown jewel event in weather that would likely warrant a postponement 8 months earlier.

You'd like to think the organization would have enough foresight to understand this day is coming, but then again, this is MLB we're talking about.

Could be some interesting scheduling with just one or two Pacific Time Zone teams, and they would be home the same days if the Giants advance.

There are also a ton of big market and/or popular teams -- Cubs, Red Sox, Dodgers, Mets/Giants, Nats and possible Orioles. All can't play in the prime time window.

I'm guessing Rangers v. wildcard are saddled with all the early starts.

You can buy an extra three or four days by tightening up the postseason schedule -- starting first-round series Wed/Thurs instead of Thurs/Fri, eliminating the travel day between Gms 4 and 5 (that travel day is a recent addition), taking one day max instead of two between LDS and LCS. That and starting a week earlier would get it back to ending before Halloween at least.

That doesn't take the entire season into account, though I never said he was still the No. 1 starter, especially given what Hendricks and Lester have done this season.

Owners and PA probably wouldn't go for this either, but I'm a fan of more double headers. Each team plays one Sunday double header per month, and a real twin bill, not a split gate.

I hate to interrupt the nostalgia-fest, but doubleheaders would suck. I loved them too when they started at 5:30 and I was out of the ballpark by 11:00. Nowadays, could you imagine watching the Red Sox and Yankees take pitches for nine ****ing hours?

Exactly. You really need to play 30 exhibition games? Play 20, take 10 for the regular season, and start in the southern and western cities. Build in a day or two for March rainouts or bad weather. Really not that hard.

For the love of God, southern/dome teams will never agree to this. They don't want to give up summer games for some in April. And teams don't want to start put with a bunch of road games.
