If I'm Bob Iger, I fire the legal team. Write a personal check for $100k and hope that will be the end of it. My goodness. A $50k wrongful death lawsuit and you try to get out of it by claiming a Disney Plus trial gives you an out? My goodness. Between the bad press and the legal expenses so far, they are already deep in the hole.

Friend of mine worked for a global alcohol distributor and his group had two weeks of hospitality training boot camp from Disney. He was blown away by the constant attention to detail and the emphasis on positive customer experience and making all of the efforts completely opaque.

I guess it should be noted that the $50k amount is due to a cap placed by Florida on wrongful death suits. It's crazy that states make it so easy on companies to make a choice where it would be cheaper to pay off a wrongful death suit than say, fix something that might be a danger to a customer.

Florida's damages cap only applies to lawsuits against the government and it is larger than $50k.

This is one of those things where teporting on civil lawsuits drives me nuts. Every jurisdiction has a threshold amount that has to be alleged in order to bring a civil lawsuit. In Florida that amount is $50,000. This guy hasn't filed a $50,000 lawsuit. He has filed a lawsuit in which he alleged his damages are at least $50,000, but if it ever made it to a damages phase of a trial they would put on evidence that his damages were in the millions.

But the first reporter to look at the lawsuit sees the $50k number, doesn't really understand why it's there - probably because of legalese - reports it's a $50k lawsuit and everyone else follows suit when it's really just boilerplate language to get into court that's included in the complaint to establish jurisdiction.

As well as the outcome resulting in death. $50 grand is you banged up your hand because your seat belt came undone on a ride
