Her name was veal. Of course it was.
She should have married Brian Scalabrine.

Another thing about animals. They change as they age and get sick. And sometimes an illness can make one's disposition snap.
Unlike Rotts and other 'scary' breeds, pitbulls are much more likely to be poorly and inexpertly bred.
They're among the least likely breeds to be spayed and neutered, so there are a lot of them.
A properly bred, trained and raised pitbull is fine. I have zero problem with the breed as a whole.
The problems are the owners.
FYI, I am not a pitbull owner.
I have a German short-hair pointer who has an excellent disposition despite a disturbing fixation on annexing the Sudetenland.
I have two dogs; I had an aversion to pitbulls for a long time, then my cousin, a vet had one when we visited and she was the sweetest thing. Then my neighbor brought a stray pit puppy home and she is also so sweet. In the past three years, I love her and have no hesitation letting her lick my face and petting her. She loves my two dogs too. Its upbringing not breed IMHO.

This is largely how I feel. I like dogs. I think pit bulls are great-looking, athletic dogs, and can be great pets. I wish they didn't have the reputation they have, and realize that in many cases, it amounts to unfair characterization. Still, in some significantly deadly instances, that rep/bad rap is well deserved reality, and so, I would never own one. I just wouldn't want the responsibility, and that policy would go double if I had small children around.
This story brought to mind another about pet pit bulls that I read years ago. A young man left his two beloved pit bulls with his beloved grandmother for a weekend. The dogs knew her, and they had all spent time together previously, with no indications of what was to come.
The guy came home and went to pick up his dogs. They had attacked and killed his grandmother. Destroyed by what he saw and what his dogs had done, the owner had the dogs put down as soon as the investigation of the case was completed.
All these SJ posters are the sweetest, gentlest, most loyal creatures until the one day they aren’t.

We did not train our goldendoodle diligently enough when he was young and malleable (in part because we had our second child when he was a year old) and he bites when he gets too excited. But it’s nothing truly dangerous - mostly just mouthing. It pisses that same child off and the dog does knock him down sometimes, but that’s mostly a function of him still being bigger than the boy. Everyone else can handle it easily, and they’re not anger bites.
This is such a great post. The dogs ate the guy’s grandma, and it’s played as a devastating coda that he was so distraught that made the difficult decision to put the dogs down.
(Well. Eventually.)
Dude, they ate his grandma. Was Option B Frisbee at the park?
