Windows update issue

I have an HP laptop running Windows 8, the other day I got this message: Failure configuring Windows updates. Reverting changes and I have been unable to get rid of it despite trying a number of online fixes and YouTube tutorials. Anybody had this issue and successfully eradicated this bull****? I just spent $500 getting a new board put in this thing and am not interested in spending any more.

Good luck. If you can, I'd upgrade to W10 ASAP. They'll be cutting mainstream support for W8 early next year.

The problem for me is I could rarely get past that error message screen to do anything. It basically takes over your machine and the timeframe Microsoft gives you of 30 minutes etc. is bull****, I left it on for hours and nothing happened. My wife is taking it in today to have it looked at and thanks for the tip re: W10.

FWIW I saw the same massage on the computer screen on the entrance to the Texas Roadhouse Thursday night.
