I had no idea the Pringle's guy bought the Reds and integrated himself into the logo.

Wait, I thought there was a Reds policy that players couldn't have facial hair. Or was that just Marge Schott's policy? If it's an organizational thing, how can the logo have a 'stache and players can't?

Yes, apparently now that Eva Braun's dead, Mr. Red was allowed to grow his 'stache back.

This was Mr. Red in the mid-1980s:

But here he is back in 1955 (complete with the team's McCarthyism name change ::)):

My favorite home run of all time (after Gibson's WS shot in '88) was when rookie Mike Piazza turned on a fastball (don't remember the Reds pitcher) and cranked one deep into center field at Riverfront. Everything about the swing and connection on the sweet spot, and the way the ball soared into the great beyond, was poetry.

Evidently, this acid-inspired vomit of a mascot does, too:

"Ah Hunka Hunka cheese -- I love cheese."
"Um, what's wrong with you?"
"I just smoked a whole bunch of crack."

Hard to believe that it's been 14 years since the Reds brought back the vest to major league baseball. Guess it was time to retire the look.

Those are some sharp looking uniforms.
