Pasquarelli calls Whitlock an idiot for ripping the HOF voters for putting Richard Dent in over Willie Roaf.

Fued and personal feelings aside, Whitlock has a point. Both Priest Holmes and Larry Johnson were monsters because they ran behind Roaf (and Will Shields) early and often. And that's to say nothing of what Roaf accomplished in New Orleans.

Oh, I agree with Whitlock in this argument.

And while I have my own issues with Whitlock because of things he's done here, I'll take him over Pasquarelli in a heartbeat.

The stories I've heard about the **** that goes on in that room is disgraceful.

A former co-worker would tell me stories that would blow your mind and said everything people hate about sports journalists can be seen in that room.

Homerism, back-room deals, 20-year grudges... They need to be held accountable.

The lack of accountability in that room is a bigger problem than anyone knows. This latest class is hardly a controversial one. If Dent vs. Roaf is the biggest outrage, I'd say you're doing pretty well compared to most years.

There was one year where my friend told me that they didn't want to vote in a certain player but knew they'd be hammered if they didn't. This was a guy who was going to get in eventually anyway.

There was another year where one voter was so against one of the finalists that he started reading a book when another writer was presenting for said player.

i agree 1,000 percent that the method used for the pro football hof selections is an antiquated system long overdue for revision. it's time for it to be opened up to a much' larger voting population; sadly, many people in that room have agendas and their vote carries waaay more weight than it should when the voting body is so small.

i am always astounded at the animous len p. generates on SportsJournalists.com. the guy has long been among the hardest working football reporters i've known, one with a much more fair-minded outlook than most.

the fact that there are folks here who admit that their support automatically goes to jason in a feud with len p. boggles my mind.

i i mean no disrespect to those who share that sentiment; just sayin' i'm blown away that it exists.
