Two great acquistions. Time will tell, but these two could meet in the NLCS.

Manny may be the difference in getting LA over the top in the NL West. But, if the Brewers to make the playoffs, Sabathia, as with most very good pitchers, are more important in playiff series. I pitcher can't get you to the playoffs, see Steve Carlton, but 1 dominant pitcher is the difference once you get there.

Normally I'd say an everyday player over a pitcher who only starts every fifth day. But Sabathia has been special. If the trade deadline was earlier like it was in 1984, I'd have put it as almost Sutcliffe-like.

Where were the Brewers in the wild-card standings before the trade? They are 23-15 since Sabathia's first start. Cubs have been red-hot, so if the Brewers are playing well but not gaining ground it's not because the trade didn't work.
