But I know there are some veterans who have covered a hell of a lot more than I have and I'm curious to see who has covered what at some point during their careers.

One Preakness Stakes. Attended but did not cover a Kentucky Derby

A career built around college sports but with plenty of variety thrown in there. Zero complaints. My career bucket list includes two things I didn't get to cover: The Masters and the Kentucky Derby. I at least attended the Derby (in 1973, Secretariat's year).

My publication couldn't get credentialed for the '94 World Cup, despite the fact we were an hour as the crow flies from the Rose Bowl. The two events I always wanted to cover were the Masters and the Olympics.

I soothe my bruised ego by telling myself that I didn't have to sit through the traffic to go to all these events.

About the only cool things I get to cover are a handful of Big 10 football games each year, a charity dirt track race with NASCAR drivers and state high school football.

But I don't sit in traffic!
