This feels like a page from a comedy script except it isn't a script. Orange County social workers falsified evidence and hired people to pretend to be neighbors of a woman to remove her kids from her home. Lawyers for the county argued there was no way to know that lying to the court was wrong. Ninth Circuit court basically calls them dip****s. A quick Google search shows this has been going around for a while. I guess this case was about whether the employees were immune from being sued.

The article is very editorialized but it includes a transcript that is very telling.

Almost as ridiculous: circuit court hearing arguments rather than denying appeal on its face.
 
Sorry to hear this practice may be shut down. I think I could make a pretty good career as a lying pretend neighbor.
