... in the Middle Ages, it was said that to turn lead into gold is easy — all you had to do when you performed the process was never think of the world hippopotamus. Now of course, once that’s been put in your mind, you have to think of hippopotamus all the time.
I’ve said the Cubs will win if only no one thinks of 1908. Which is impossible to do but I do think once a century ... think they ought to play the music from “Brigadoon” every day at Wrigley Field with the hopes that it will return to us.
