I'm watching it now.

He had Rev. Al one-on-one for five minutes at the start.

The panel has Bill Bradley, Scott McLellan ... and Dana Carvey, who is showing no level of seriousness at all. But Bradley and McLellan are going at it pretty good.

After reading this post, I decided I had to watch it before going to sleep.

Sharpton only cracked the smile right at the end of that interview, he was serious from start to finish. I would have liked to have seen anyone other than Dana Carvey in that seat, though. Comic relief is great, but he added nothing to the discussion. Anyone who would have made a wise-crack, then a quick point would have been great.

Maher = putz-head. How does this guy keep a show?

And I'm a liberal.

Same thing happened when Robin Williams was on last year.

Sounded great on paper, but it winds up with three people having a discussion and one guy throwing spitballs.

I wish they would have Stephanie Miller on. Daughter of Barry Goldwater's running mate Bill Miller. Knows the issues but also has good timing for the occasional wisecrack.

Chris Rock was on the panel a while back and acted the same way. It seems these comics feel insecure in a serious setting and feel like they have to force comic relief. Then it becomes awkward.

Watching now. Good God.

Bill Maher.
Bill Bradley.
Scott McClellan.
Dana Carvey.

One of these things just doesn't belong here ...

Carvey is embarrassing himself. I doubt he'll be invited back.

Well, he had the president's (former) spokesperson on, so that's about as close to Yawn as it gets.

Except that McClellan seems to be a decent person.

It depends. If Maher wants a real comedian on the show, Carvey will return. Lord knows Bill isn't making anyone (except audience plants) laugh.

I'm with you, Johnny. It's why I DVR that show every week.

Same here. He's off the chart with his politics ... and he's still entertaining.
