Southwest Airlines offering 50% off on flights to Vegas from thru March 11 if you book today:

A midweek trip from here to Vegas is 130 round trip... now if I only had money for a hotel and gaming...

Those aren't even good deals. I've been pricing out Vegas trips for March for a month. Spirit is that cheap normally, and anything on Expedia or Orbitz is better. Try there if you are serious about a trip.

If you become a member of the Spirit $9 Fare Club you can fly places for a buck. I'm serious.

Back in 2007, my wife and I flew round trip from LA to Detroit for $102 total. The tickets were a buck, then there was $50 in taxes and surcharges.

Now, you have to be able to travel within a month or two, but I paid $9 to join the club in 2007 and renewed for $49 this year. I'm still ahead. And we plan on traveling again this summer using those similar fares.

And we wonder why the airlines are suffering?

Only the upstarts can do this. And it can't last long. Nor is it a good idea.

Sweet. Just as my buyout takes effect, I can hop a nonstop from PRV to Vegas and let that check ride.
But seriously, Mama T is talking about another trip out there. Maybe slot machines out there will bow before her this time the way they usually do at Twin River and Foxwoods.

I really wonder if the air carriers are getting help from the gaming industry here. If people don't go to Vegas, they aren't going to gamble in Vegas. Once they get there the casinos can get them drunk, distract them and maybe even get folks to spend more than they intended.

I'm quite sure Vegas kicks in on these fares. As you said, they need to get people there to take their money. Good business decision to make sure it's cheaper to fly to Vegas than anywhere else.

That would be something I would sign up for if I flew more often. But I've only flown three times in my life.

I fell off the Vegas comp lists a couple years ago, but now Sahara keeps sending me free room offers. Yeah, they're getting a little worried up there.

When they start comping the whores, I'll pay full price for the flight.

Go to UNLV there are plenty of free whores there.

I wouldn't be surprised. When I was going there I was shocked by the number of girls who looked stripperesque.

So there's a degree program for that, too?

The best part is the interns are unpaid and work for course credit.
