British Open I think has 10 courses in its rotation, and that'd be fine for the U.S. Open. Put Torrey in that rotation. Go with nine and throw in a place you usually don't go. Like L.A. Country Club in 2023. Or The Country Club in Brookline.
The USGA needs to cut the crap with courses like Chambers Bay and Erin Hills and follow the R&A model of only a half-dozen or so courses in the rotation. My six:
1. Pebble, 2. Oakmont, 3. Winged Foot, 4. Shinnecock, 5. Olympic, 6. Pinehurst (for the pubic course factor).

Disagree strongly. Shipnuck's piece on Chambers this week laid out a great case for why they should go back.
Chambers Bay, One Year Later: Lessons Learned From Its 2015 Debut on the Big Stage
Our national championship should not be played at places where it takes $1 million to be a member. I believe every course in the R&A rotation except Muirfield can be played by the public, even if it costs a fortune, despite the fact that most are "private" courses.
The Masters is the Masters. They can do whatever they like, and so can the PGA, frankly. They are invites.
But our public championship should be different. Sure, it costs $600 to play Pebble, but you can technically play it. Same with Whistling. Same with Kiawah.
Screw all these courses with all their stuffy ass traditions. Give me Bethpage, Pebble, Chambers, Pinehurst No.2, Erin Hills, Whistling, Kiawah, and if you can fit corporate tents and figure out parking, give one to Shadow Creek of French Lick or Streamsong.
I'm thinking Prairie Dunes in Hutchinson, Kansas should get some love as well. Has hosted a Senior Open and a Women's Open.
Great great track. Very underrated.
How about at the course beside it? Is it Augusta CC???Yeah, I enjoyed the watching the women's U.S. Open there.
I'd also like to see an LPGA event at Augusta.
Is there a course on Texas that is worthy of the Open? Whispering Pines, but it's never held a major tournament there. Austin Country Club is cool, but not sure I'd think of it as one of the country's great tracks. Dallas National is boring.
Frankly, it was fun to see the LPGA play Salahee this week. Those trees are gorgeous, and it requires shotshaping, not bomb and gouge.

True. As much as I'd like to see it, I just don't see them doing a yearly tounahment. What private club is willing to close the course to members for two weeks (tournament weeks, not to mention prep and recovery time), especially when the course is closed as much as it is already? A one-time-only event would be pretty cool.No.
Come on, man.... I wanna see the LPGA's best tackle Amen Corner.
Augusta CC would be a cruel joke.
LPGA to Kristie Kerr: hey, we're putting Augusta Georgia on the schedule next year.
Kerr: Really? Augusta National?!?
LPGA: um.... Not exactly....
Kerr: ****.
Cherry Hills?
