Curious as to how your paper may have handled the U.S coverage in World Cup. Always on sports front?

When they advanced, it was 1A. They were 1A today as well.

They were the sports centerpiece on most days during the tournament.

Do the games stay in the center from here on out?

Maybe by default. This is typically the slowest sports month.

I think the bigger papers (especially ones that sent writers there and are keeping them there) will justify the expense by keeping it as centerpieces.

It doesn't hurt that soccer art usually translates pretty well to a centerpiece.

Mostly we had teasers on the front page with articles on page 3. The win over Ghana was on the bottom of first page.

My guess is it will be inside from now on without U.S. in it. Maybe run the final on the front.

Pretty much this. But our 1A presence was usually a local/viewing party type story with the game coverage as the main presence in sports. We had it as the centerpiece a few times when there were big matchups or we didn't have much to choose from. The area MLB team was in a big funk, and the art from the matches has been great. Was the centerpiece on the opener, last Sunday when Brazil/Colombia advanced, and all four US games. Probably won't be centerpiece again until final, but wouldn't totally shock me if it is the lead art Friday or Saturday. And our circulation is just a little lower than RJ's.

The 35K daily here. U.S. pool play games were out front, with other daily updates on 2B. Went all-in on the Belgium game - fan-related story on 1A, centerpiece on 1B, color page inside. Sucks that they lost.

Probably migrates inside again at this point. If title match is on a slow day, maybe it gets out front again.

Semis and final on the front, unless you have something big locally to trump it. Final falls on the Sunday between Wimbledon and The Open (golf), traditionally one of the slowest national sports weekends of the year.
