I know I hardly wore a seat belt growing up. Getting in an accident when I was in eighth grade changed my mind forever, because while the accident wasn't serious, I could have easily been thrown through the windshield.
I can't remember if the first car I owned even had seat belts — lap belts only, I guess — but in this day and age, as so many have said, there is absolutely no excuse. None. I thought it was habit for every 4- and 5-year-old who climbs into the family's minivan. I know it is for my nieces and nephews.
