This is exactly why I HATE Chris Matthews

This is not a parody

On Hardball, while remarking on Sen. Barack Obama's reported request for orange juice after being offered coffee at an Indiana diner, David Shuster asserted: "t's just one of those sort of weird things. You know, when the owner of the diner says, 'Here, have some coffee,' you say, 'Yes, thank you,' and, 'Oh, can I also please have some orange juice, in addition to this?' You don't just say, 'No, I'll take orange juice,' and then turn away and start shaking hands." Host Chris Matthews agreed, "You don't ask for a substitute on the menu."

I really, really hate the political discourse in this country. What a disgrace.

That's not even political discourse. That's on the level of catty junior high girls. "Susie thinks she's all that. You saw her in the lunch line. 'I'll just have a salad.' She's such a *****! I hate her!"
Hell, I despise Rush Limbaugh. But at least he has a perspective that's moved outside of high school cliques.

Let met get this straight:

Chris Matthews doesn't think Barack Obama is qualified to be president because he likes orange juice more than coffee?

Next time you guys want to accuse conservatives of being whacked-out, run that question through your head.

My hatred of Chris Matthews has nothing to do with his politics (although he does have strange daddy issues about middle aged white dudes....he had a big-boy crush on W., Romney and Fred Thompson).

If Hillary had a ****, Matthews would totally blow her/him.

But that doesn't affect my perception of the race.

I'd like an offer of proof on that.

If?

Let me get this straight. Chris Matthews even caring about this makes him a "legitimate" commentator?

Try running THAT question through your head before any others.

I'd swear he's being played by Fred Willard. Any day now I expect him to say, "And to think that in some countries these dogs are eaten."

I wouldn't accept coffee if I didn't want coffee. Doesn't that make me fiscally conservative?

Shuster is the one who said it, and he's very conservative.

My only question to Shuster would be: Is that what really happened-- exactly as you say? Because if it is, sure, it's rude on Obama's part... It's not a big issue, but being the leader of the free world does require a level of decorum. For example, you don't want the POTUS massaging the German chancellor's neck at a summit. Tact can be very important in delicate foreign relations.

But something tells me Shuster was embellishing for effect.

Obama embraces O.J.

He's finished.

Oh, and if what Luggies says is true (and I have no reason to doubt her), then we might need a new subject line.

Unless Shuster is the reason Bill Brasky hates Matthews.

I guess the reason people are picking these seemingly trivial things about Obama apart is that that the little things say more about a person's character than the big things. People tend to be very guarded about the major things that could show character flaws, thus the only way you can really find out about a person's character is by observing the little things.
