Isn't this the mid 1980s rate? I could have sworn this number was $1.98 or so early this year.

No, you're not. I think it poked past $2 at one point. I'm going in a couple weeks and this won't hurt.

I was there two years ago for four months. It was between $1.93 and $2.01 during that time, I would have loved if it was around $1.50. That's what the Euro was when I was over there.

At one point in the late 70s or early 80s, the British pound was nearly equal to the dollar. The dollar has gotten stronger against all currencies, because other countries are having big problems with their banking systems.
