And I hated how they seemed to blur out one of the names on-screen as they scrolled through (unless it was me or my TV, I don't know, but I missed reading half of the listed of those who died because of it).

There were some truly awful outfits worn by the ladies at this show. I get that they're all trying to be edgy and different or couture, etc., but it's hard to believe some of those dresses were actually proudly made by professional apparel designers and shown off by these movie actresses. Some of them, you wanted to ask, "Didn't they look in the mirror before they went out?"

One of these men is an Oscar winner - the other is Harrison Ford.

I'm not going to judge the movies I have not seen - I'm sure they were all outstanding. But I do wonder if "the Academy" roots for story when voting since its a totally subjective endeavour. Or maybe in some cases they don't think the actors are acting and they are really going through the trials they are experiencing in the film (Fraser), but yes Ke Huy Quan coming back after a career as a child actor, Curtis - the daughter of two Hollywood legends etc. Made for a good show.

One thing that would spice up the Oscars would be sideline reporters interviewing the nominees who didn't win after the acceptance speech.

"Pretty tough break there - what are your emotions right now? Any second-guessing on your Oscar campaign? Did you have enough PR support? " Heck - If I was a nominee, I'd give a "thank you" speech anyway on my social media - you're not getting played off.

With the exception, I believe of "Elvis," all the highly nominated films were recognized with each one award. Having seen most of the Best Picture nominees and not particularly liking any of them, I'm glad the awards got sprinkled around.

Looking forward especially to seeing "All Quiet on the Western Front."

I tried to watch Everything et all .. quite frankly, I'm an idiot and couldn't follow it, so I stopped watching after about 45 minutes. But that's OK, I'm not in the industry's target demographic anymore and I'm just fine with that.

This year's was very similar to the one at this year's Grammys. And it was just odd that they'd occasionally go to another camera angle that focused on Lenny Kravitz and having the memorialized photographs in the background. They must think the performance is the bigger draw for these instead of the dead. It's also crazy how they could forget someone like Paul Sorvino and some others. There should be someone at the Academy whose job it is every day to keep track of every death between Oscars. And the '22 thing can't be right, because Raquel Welch got the "hammer" (if you don't count that past Academy president).

There really is something to be said about the Oscars tending to recognize movies almost specifically-targeted for for a very small niche of the public. It bugs me that some people almost "shame" the general American movie going crowd for not seeing a lot of these films.

The In Memoriam segment is always cluttered up with a lot of people who have pull within the academy - but it always bugs me when they include executives and flacks nobody outside of the Academy people care about. Stick to the creative people.

Didn’t watch a second last night; didn’t see this movie or any of the ones that won. But I now feel good about the way Best Actor went.

I couldn't believe how emotional Brendan Fraser was upon winning the Best Actor award. But then, there were more than the usual amount of truly emotional speeches; his was just one. Other notable ones were by Jamie Lee Curtis and Daniel Kwan especially.

Before you go pointing to EEAAO, can we start with "Out of Africa" or "Driving Miss Daisy"? those movies are targeted for a specific niche of the public, guess which one?
