It's Texas.

This has to be on the up-and-up like everything else from that Mecca.

Poynter: Hey, why don't you sportswriters write more about high school athletes and steroid use? You're shirking your journalistic duty, you toy-department heathens!

Sportswriters: Here's some results from Texas. Now, do you mind? We have to write 54,651,687,694,131,684,130,165 team capsules for the football preview and deadline is pretty much Monday night.

The kicker is, they only test during the school year. They don't test over the summer, when football players can cycle and do their big-time lifting.

The only ones this test is going to catch are the terminally stupid.

Or worse, the freshmen and sophomores who aren't playing a whole lot now.
They are starting younger and younger.

Yeah. I think they need to increase the budget tenfold and test all of the players at least four times a year randomly and in the off-season. Maybe the IRS and Justice Department and Congress can get involved. This is the weakest drug program in all sports.

That's a big ****in' number.

10,117 tested.

1 power lifter tested.

I know as well as anybody that football's the one that counts in Texas, but they tested 1 power lifter? Surely there had to be some people they classified as football that also power lift.
