Murray has to be No. 1 now, he won the last two (although Olympics was only 3 sets), and reached the Finals at Wimby.
No problem with Murray being No. 1 for a while. We can change it up every month or so, like the women's tour does.
Murray's overall career body of work isn't as good as the other's just yet, but his recent results prove he can play with anyone and do it on the big stage.
I'm glad he doesn't have to hear the "can't win the big one" rap. Always thought that was silly. First, it takes a hell of a lot just to reach a Grand Slam final to begin with. Second, if you do you're likely going to be facing a future Hall of Famer. In short, winning one these days ain't easy.
I'm also happy for the long-suffering British fans. Can't imagine what it must be like to wait 76 years for a Slam winner. I've always admired the way the British put on Wimbledon, how loyal and polite and dignified the fans are there. They really seem to care about the sport, even in the many years when they don't have a dog in the fight, so to speak. So it's nice to see them have one of their own to cheer.

I turned it on just as Serena won the game to close to 5-4 in the third, with Azarenka serving for the match, and watched the rest. I dislike Serena as much as anyone, but it's amazing how many times I've seen her get to the brink of disaster and then decide to start playing as well as any woman in the history of the game.

There will be plenty of time to watch football between now and Christmas. I agree with the idea of moving it up a week, as I stated a couple of times earlier on this thread, but not for that reason.

Shameful that the men's final was not on a major network (sorry, Tennis Channel, you're not there yet).
Huh? It was live on CBS in most of the United States. I realize a few affiliates may have chosen not to carry it because of conflicts with local news or Oprah. But CBS did provide the coverage.
Not sure if TSN carried it live in Canada or not.
