Tell me about Albuquerque

Were not playing golf. Already planning to hit the casinos and an Isotopes game.

I like the area. Only have passed through it, but am looking at the University of New Mexico if I decide on going for a PhD. Santa Fe seems nice and there is a train that goes up there now.

It's a great city with a huge range of activities available. Why anyone would set foot in a casino, I don't know, but if that's your thing...

Make sure you ride the Sandia Peak tram and visit Old Town

Try Gardunos for some great Mexican food, though make sure you check before you sit down regarding what chili (red or green) is hottest thata day. They tend to serve some pretty hot green chili at times.

I am a big fan of a BBQ place near UNM called The Quarters. They have some pretty good food. Try a bowl of green chili stew for an appetizer. It has a lot of flavor but not much heat.

If you have a car, head south about 45 minutes to the Owl Bar in San Antonio, NM. It is located just of I-25 and is known for its green chili cheeseburgers and chocolate cake. It is a great place.

Glad to hear people like it. I was a little afraid I'd get a bunch of comments like "Why the hell are you going to that hole?" :)

Anyone think taking the train up to Santa Fe and back is worth a little half-day mini trip? It's only 90 minutes each way and it's $14 round trip. I suppose we could just drive, too.

The tram is awesome. The best Albuquerque experience I can think of.

Gardunos doesn't hold a candle to Sadies, but you better like it hot.

Santa Fe is an experience if you've never been. Check out the Plaza, and if you have time the Palace of the Governors is really cool.

You don't have to drive to San Antonio to get a good green chile cheeseburger, they have them all over in Alb. Blake's Lotaburger is one example. Green chile cheese lotaburger is a must have.

Grew up around Alb. Went to Dukes games all the time as a kid (before the 'topes). You can PM me if you have any questions.

If you're in Santa Fe, that's less than 90 miles away, so you'll have time to roll a number, and rent a car.

Anyone ever rent a bike at the top of Sandia Peak and ride down? I'm thinking that could be fun, or could scare the crap out of me, depending on how steep it is and how sharp the turns are and how likely a bus will be coming up from the other direction.

The city's tourism board should've offered Al Alburquerque's parents money to name him Visit and remove the 'r' from the last name.
