Survivor: Jimmy Johnson

He's been lobbying to be on the Celebrity Survivor for years.

It will be interesting to see how long they keep him around. I say he lasts 3-4 weeks tops.

What's the over/under on number of fellow contestants who have heard of Jimmy Johnson?

If they have 20 contestants, 15 will know who he is.

This is a bad idea.

They were going to do a Celebrity Survivor several years ago. Supposedly Brad Garrett, Kathy Griffin, Gary Valentine were among those who agreed to do it, but they were too worried about people quitting and the similarities to "I'm a ceelbrity, get me out of here."

It's a bad idea to put 20 celebs out there. Not a bad idea to throw one out there. Even if he quits on the first day, oh well, there's 19 other donks who will stick it out. A minor blip on the radar. The show will go on.

I hate it. It will be a distraction as long as he's there.

A distraction? Really? For who?

It's one dude. Not that big a deal. Just another variable in a great game.

I'll say this: The Will Ferrell tagging along with Bear Grylls on Man vs. Wild was fairly entertaining. I'd rather watch that than the contrived pile of bs Survivor has turned into. The Eco Challenge was better than this stuff.

Brad Garrett and Gary Valentine and the one you're worried about is Kathy Griffin? If anything she's more famous than the other two, though probably fairly on par with Garrett.

Griffin is a much bigger star than Valentine. I know a lot of people hate her, but she's a pretty big star.

I'm not sure she's as big a star as Garrett, but right now, it's probably pretty close.

Garrett was on a highly rated show for 9-10 years. What the hell has Griffin done be considered a "big star"?

Nothing. To say she's a "big star" or even a "pretty big star" is just absurd. Not even close.

Agreed on the Ferrell episode of Man vs. Wild. That was awesome.

I actually thought that was lousy. Then again, I've been tired of Ferrell's act for years.

I'm surprised a celebrity is really going on a show like this that isn't a celeb edition. I don't think it will make him look good. I do wonder if people knowing who he is will make them more guarded in their comments about him.
I was trying to figure out what he'd have to do to go incognito.
Shave head, lose 20-30 pounds, grow a beard and show up pale as a ghost. But even then...

Jimmy's ego wouldn't allow him to go incognito.

Gary Hogeboom did the show a few seasons ago. He was recognized by a few players right away, when they were doing the publicity photos before going to the island.
