If the plane from Atlanta lands by 1 a.m., you have a chance of being in the air by 2:30.

You're damn lucky to be getting those if they're blaming the FAA. Once they pass the buck like that, and they always do, they like to claim they're off the hook.

Flight from Atlanta is now scheduled in at 1 a.m. ET. Then we get to wait for the crew to turn the plane around for our flight.

Anyone have an idea how long it takes the crew to set up for the next flight?

Here's what's going to happen. That flight will be about 15 minutes late arriving in NYC. It will pull up to the gate, all the passengers will get off.

The Delta groundcrew will do yeoman's work getting the plane unloaded, reloaded, cleaned and restocked.

You will board fairly quickly. Everyone's in a hurry to get home you know.

The doors will close.

The jetway will be pulled back.

The plane will back up about five feet.

The plane will stop.

You will sit there for about 10 minutes.

Then the pilot will come on and tell you that because the flight was 15 minutes late in arriving they've outlasted their 24-hour flying limit and have to rest for the FAA-mandated 8 hours.

Enjoy JFK. ;D

Well. The flight crew has joined us at the gate. So the 8-hour thing may not be the case. That's not a bad sign, at least.

And with that, my laptop is about to expire.

Wish me luck.

I take it JFK doesn't have the laptop docking stations like Las Vegas does?

Anyway, good luck, though I fully expect you to back posting on this thread from JFK tomorrow.

All I know is I showed up at the airport this morning to two surprises:

1.) A bunch of flights to NYC were canceled.

2.) Not the one Moddy and the Queen were on. We had a nice chat as we each waited. They just boarded, mine should board here shortly.

Awesome! You've got a free $7.50 to spend; at a NY airport that'll get you a bottle of water and a Kit Kat.

Enjoy!

I got into Newark around 2am after sitting in an hour-long holding pattern over Chicago.

The girl of my dreams literally walked out of my life, down a terminal toward her plane, at JFK.

Turn the page, bro.:)

Made it home.

Once we made it on the plane it was only about 20 minutes until we took off (about 2:30 ET). Made it to SeaTac by 6 a.m. PT, caught six hours of sleep at my parents' house and drove the three hours home.

The JFK experience makes me appreciate both SeaTac and PDX all the more.

So, for next time, is there an NYC-area airport that doesn't suck?

No.

Unless you count Bradley in suburban Hartford. Which is, you know, in the middle of bum****.

So no.
