In the parting shots, they picked their Athletes of the Year. Saunders took LeBron, Loopy picked Federer, Ryan went with Tom Brady and Rhoden picked Randy Moss. Randy ****ing Moss?

You think Rhoden was going to take Wayne Chrebet, Dan Dickau, Sidney Crosby or Roger Clemens?

A disgrace that Federer was not a unanimous choice.

For once, I thought Lupica made great points... It's an absolute joke that Federer hasn't been named Sportsman of the Year and gained all of the accolades that he deserves...

His greatness has been truly unappreciated and that's unfortunate...

Saunders made a great case for LeBron as well...

Moss is on the verge of setting the record for TD catches and he's part of a record-setting offense that wasn't nearly this good before he got there. He may be an asshole, but he's not a ridiculous choice as Athlete of the Year by any means.

Black, white or blue, I just don't think Moss is a good pick. Unless they all agreed to pick different people and he drew straw No. 4.

Agreed.
I think he ought to be a lock for the NFL's Comeback Player of the Year.

I don't think that folks who voluntarily take off entire seasons (pouting until they get their way) are eligible for any calibre of "comeback" plaudits.

Exactly my thought.

Ah, the old sullen, black athlete stereotype. Plenty of white folk have been dragged down by the morass in Oakland. Not sure if Moss is the best choice, but I can see it not being an absurd choice. And Lupica and Ryan picked white people. Discuss.

Oh. Never mind.

Much like TO, Randy's been a sulky ***** when things haven't gone precisely his precious way, for years. It's hardly color-exclusive, though it took Elway a long time to find himself part of the complete team he needed. Eli?
Schauenfreude.

Lupica and Ryan don't take offense when someone asks if they want cream in their coffee.

Moss is a quiter, and not just last season in Oakland, he often quit in Minnesota, especially in the NFC Championship game.

Agreed, 'Yab....until Moss comes through in the playoffs/Super Bowl, he shouldn't be player of the year over the other choices.

When he comes through in the playoffs, what's 'yab's problem going to be?
Wait, I have a thought...

Unless some team triple-covers him, would expect Moss to enjoy a prolific postseason, though it wouldn't spoil my January to see them beaten -- and that sentiment has NOTHING to do with Moss.

Um, it's player of the year for 2007, not 1999-2007.

Yessir. But part and parcel of this discussion is players who've picked their spots in relatively-obnoxious fashion, and we were striving for a measure of racial balance.
