We are looking to fill the position quickly ...

The North Adams Transcript, a six-day-a-week daily, is seeking a talented full time SPORTS REPORTER to join its staff. The successful candidate will become the second person in the department and work closely with our sports editor.

The primary responsibility of the position is to report on the four high schools and two colleges within the Transcript’s circulation area of Northern Berkshire County and Southern Vermont. The position includes some pagination for the print edition, as well as occasional photography duties. While experience with pagination, a camera and photo editing is preferred, it is not required. We are willing to train the right person.

The Transcript has a solid Internet presence and the sports reporter will be expected to support our online content by shooting and editing video and interacting with the community through social media.
In the summer, the Transcript covers the New England Collegiate Baseball League’s North Adams SteepleCats, as well as American Legion baseball.

The Transcript is located in beautiful North Adams, in an area where outdoor activities are plentiful. We are also 40 minutes from Albany, N.Y., 2.5 hours from Boston and 3.5 from New York City.

The Transcript’s benefits package offers medical, dental, vision and life insurance, as well as paid holidays, vacation time and a 401k plan.

To apply, send a resume, 3 to 5 writing clips in PDF format and any pagination clips in PDF format to Sports Editor Josh Colligan at [email protected] or mail them to 85 Main St., Suite 2, North Adams, MA 01247.

Artsy little town and home to Mass MoCA (http://www.massmoca.org/), also neighbors with another artsy town, Williamstown. And Vermont is 15 minutes away with hiking, fishing, arts galore. On a night off this winter you can come to Bennington to watch MAU's wrestling team as it tries to win the state title for the 26th year in a row.

Cut my teeth here a long, long time ago. Great little town and, from what I recall, a nice little paper with very dedicated readers.

As far as Mount Anthony, I used to scoff at their "New England" titles, because Vermont didn't have regional tournaments, so they essentially brought their whole team to New England. Not hard to rack up points that way.

At this paper, you can cover the Mount Greylock wrestling team, which is always good, and the coach is a great guy. Lots of really good HS sports, with some of the best people. I still keep in touch with many of them.

The application period will close Friday at 11:59 p.m. We had a tremendous amount of interest.
