The Buffalo Bulletin, an award-winning weekly newspaper in northeast Wyoming, seeks a skilled writer to take over the best local sports section in the state. With the recent promotion of our sports editor, we want to fill this position quickly.

Primary duty will be to cover all of the sports in the area. Coverage focuses on three local high schools during the school year, and shifts to health, fitness and outdoors coverage during the summer. It’s definitely not a desk job – our sports writers go to the games, trek into the mountains and are an active part of the sporting community. If you’re scared of leaving the office and getting your boots dusty, this job isn’t for you.

This is an opportunity to cover sports in a sportsman’s paradise. Buffalo is a real, Western mountain community, nestled up against the beautiful Big Horn Mountains. The area has limitless outdoor recreation opportunities including world-class hunting and fishing and hundreds of miles of hiking, biking, cross-country ski and snowmobile trails.

The ideal candidate will be able to write compelling and concise copy on deadline, have good news judgment and be the primary photographer for a sports section that prides itself on good photography. Attention to detail is key.

We offer a competitive salary complete with quality and incentive bonuses, a generous benefit package including health insurance stipend, retirement package, paid time off, and a health club membership.

E-mail cover letter, resume, four clips, references and salary requirements to [email protected],[email protected] and [email protected]. Applications must include past three supervisors and contact information in reference list. We hope to fill this position by Sept. 30, 2013.

Minimum Requirements: Bachelor's degree, three-to-five years professional newspaper experience.

Please note: If you do not send all requested information, you will not be considered for this position. Please read entire ad carefully. Candidates will need to relocate to Buffalo in early October and quickly integrate themselves into the community.
