The award-winning Bozeman Daily Chronicle has an immediate opening for a talented, versatile and ambitious sports reporter in a two-person department in Montana’s vibrant and beautiful Gallatin Valley.
The sports reporter will cover Montana State men's and women's basketball and prep sports and report to the sports editor. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to develop sources and chase down breaking news and write engaging profiles in the same day. The candidate must also be a team player and be willing to take on additional responsibilities as needed.
We want someone who can tell engaging enterprise and human-interest stories with sophisticated prose and ask tough questions. We also are searching for someone who is willing to bring new ideas and try new things with our coverage, especially in the digital sphere.
Preference will be given to those who are well-versed in digital journalism tools, are deadline-driven and are detail-oriented. A strong candidate will be adept with social media and have the ability to engage and draw in readers.

This would be a great job for someone who's ambitious, in their 20s and loves the outdoors (unfortunately, I only meet one of those three qualifications).
Bozeman is a nice college town, surrounded by mountain ranges, and Montana State is strong in Big Sky Conference sports.
