At GiveMeSport we are looking to expand our US edition and are searching for the best in social and digital sports media to join our team. We are the biggest sports site in the UK, have 25m fans on Facebook, are partners with both the NBA and NFL in the UK and have big ambitions for 2017 and beyond.
Our new look US edition will cover NFL, NBA, MLB, NHL, MLS, UFC, WWE as well as golf, tennis, athletics and more.
We are looking for a range of candidates - from those with experience leading a team, developing big ideas and making key editorial decisions in a breaking news environment. All candidates must have experience of promoting content to Facebook and must have experience working in the sports media industry.
Candidates would preferably be in New York or Toronto, but we are flexible and will have several virtual contributors working remotely in any case.
ESSENTIALS
Experience of sourcing and researching your own stories via social and digital media sources.
Sports knowledge - breadth across sports being valued more than depth in particular sports but both are valuable.
Sub editing skills.
Strong communication and team working skills.
Ability to work evenings and weekends.
DIFFERENCE MAKERS
A track record of writing headlines - particularly those that drive traffic from social media.
Contacts within the sports and media industries.
A flair for analysis, research and great ideas.
Photoshop skills.
PREFERENCES
Journalism qualifications are preferred but not mandatory if writing standards are professional.
Experience running/managing social media channels
AND FOR EDITORS...
Team management, budgeting, analytics, big ideas, client-facing experience, organisational and administrative experience, contacts and experience working with sales, marketing and technical teams.
If interested, please contact [email protected] with a cover letter and copy of your CV.
