Location: Bethesda, MD
World Championship Sports Network, WCSN.com (Bethesda, Maryland) is hiring talented sports editors to deliver a unique and compelling fan/audience experience including live events, interactive features, community, and news covering a wide variety of global/Olympic and lifestyle sports including, track and field, cycling, gymnastics, skiing, swimming, volleyball, rowing, fencing, wrestling, snowboarding and more.
Interactive Editor/Producer
- Creative, outside-the-box thinker about the big pictures in sports
- Expert knowledge of the sports media audience
- Excellent understanding of how to tell stories; capture the big stories/personalities
- Responsible for programming plans and calendar
- Manages all news, content and interactive experiences within assigned sports
- Actively develops story lines, editorial feature, athlete bios, multimedia packages, etc.
- Coordinates the gathering of content to support sports publishing and events
- Actively operates publishing and content tools to create online material
- Exceptional understanding of community and how to create/unleash the fan element
- Manages content partnerships as needed
Requirements:
- Creative, passionate, self-starter
- Knowledge of Olympics or Olympic sports covered by WCSN
- Can take ideas from concept to execution with minimal coaching
- News journalism experience and judgement/experience preferred
- Online production experience required / experience with publishing tools
- Experience with top media brands / sports media preferred
- 3-4 years experience in media operation
- Video, photo, audio experience
- Very proactive, good planning skills
- Capable project manager
- Appreciation and understanding of popular culture
- Experience working with talent/athletes/agents
- Strong writing, editing, copyediting, proofing, and communications skills
- Basic understanding of HTML and related web authoring tools and software
Other Requirements
- Available to work off-hours (e.g. evenings and weekends) as needed
- Some travel to NY required
