The Times West Virginian, a seven-day, award-winning newspaper in Fairmont, W.Va., has an immediate opening for a sports editor. The editor will be responsible for managing a staff of one sports reporter, several stringers and coordinating the newspaper's multi-media efforts as well as covering youth, high school and some college sporting events, writing feature stories, and laying out daily sports pages.
The candidate should have strong writing skills, good understanding of AP style, multi-media experience, including basic photography and videography, social media and be able to make simple updates to a website. The candidate should have a journalism background with a degree in journalism or a related field. Experience is required. Benefits include paid vacation, health and dental insurance and 401(k). Salary is based on experience.
The candidate should be from North Central West Virginia or able to relocate quickly.

But it produces a good product and it a regular award winner.
Fairmont is just outside Morgantown and the paper is squeezed between the Dominion Post (Mo'Town) and the Clarksburg paper (about 20 miles down I-79.
Fairmont's coverage area is pretty much Fairmont.

This has been filled. Was filled back in mid-June actually. I'm the new sports editor and we've hired Joe Mitchin as sports reporter. He wrote for WVU's school newspaper.
