So the indoor pro football team here was playing out of town tonight.

I did everything right ... called the newspaper in the other town at mid-week, got all square for them to send us their story.

Tonight, just on a hunch, I check with them.

"Oh, our guy didn't get out there tonight."

Um, okay. Any idea what happened at the game?

"No, not really."

A couple of minutes later, I get in touch with somebody from the other team.

"Well, we called something in to them. Didn't they tell you?"

No, not really.

That was your mistake.
You should have called that paper and spoken to one of the writers who doesn't cover the team and asked if they wanted to make whatever your paper's stringer rate is to cover the game for you. That way you could have someone at the game wanting to make a quick $50 or so (if your paper pays its stringers that well)

You should have called that paper and spoken to one of the writers who doesn't cover the team and asked if they wanted to make whatever your paper's stringer rate is to cover the game for you. That way you could have someone at the game wanting to make a quick $50 or so (if your paper pays its stringers that well)

Then the stringer would be making as much as the players... cool..
