Why don't we have a rule in this league, where you can still jump in at anytime for games that haven't kicked off yet.
It's stupid to penalize people who don't plug into the fact that there are Thursday games.
It just seems like it would be more competitive and more fun.

I think it's just yahoo settings.

I'm not certain, but I think the settings are determined by the commish.
On the college pick 'em, we are allowed to get any pick in, as long as it's 5 mins before game kicks off.
The commish sets the parameters, I do believe.
Either way, carry on.

But in every NFL pick em I've been in, the deadline has always been before the first game is played that week.

You can switch it. I just looked at the league I'm commissioner in.

They have three options:
Friday at 3pm PST;
Five minutes before the first game of the week;
and five minutes before each game.

And from here on out, the NFL weekend will begin on Thursdays. In fact, BYH did post on this thread, telling everyone of the Thursday game and to make your picks this week.

I honestly had no idea I could change the settings. Sorry for not checking on that earlier, but I'm not sure I'd want to go with the five-minutes-before-every-game thing anyway. I like to know that if I check on the site at 2 pm to see who picked what, I'll have all the picks and will know how many points I need to get to make up ground on someone (or how many pts someone will need to gain ground on me).

Plus, as Hankie Pankie :) says, it would make a mockery of the league to change the rules right now. It'd be like organizing a draft and determining draft order by who signs up. I mean, ****. That just makes no sense.

Really? Seemed personally reasonable as a response to someone who was demanding, in all caps, that someone do what he wants against the greater response which said to leave it as it was when the season started.

You knew the rules when you signed up. So did mustangj. If BYH wants to fix it (as said in that response) he will. If he doesn't? Then you can either roll with it, or leave if it bothers you that much.

I don't see what's "****-poor" about that.
