According to the Blue Jays television announcers tonight, last night's
game in which the Jays beat the White Sox on the strength of nothing
more than two solo homeruns, is the only time in post-1900 major league
history that a team has won a game despite never having any "runners on
base" (as distinguished, they said, from having "baserunners," which the

Dedo, your mention of the Weakerthans and Miller's Crossing brought tears to mine eyes.

Number one on my list has to be Tim O'Brien's The Things They Carried (also nibbed by Double Down, possibly the most underrated contributor on the board, in a tie with jgmacg). I freaking love that book.

I also saw the live version of Fleetwood Mac's Silver Springs. (I think it was BYH who plugged that.)

And, of course, I discovered drunk Darling Joe on my bathroom floor in my hotel in Minneapolis, pretty much because of this place.

Good post, Jones. The Tim O'Brien book was fabulous, and "Silver Springs" on youtube just ripped my heart out.

I guess I've learned a ton here (except how to spell). Great books, great music, great people.

Best thing is knowing that we all have our own problems. Some are quite close, others different. Big, small -- all that crap.

I guess I'm just glad there are other kooky kids out there like me.

Oh yeah -- I forgot the Crimson Room. ;D
