Just happened a couple of hours ago. Samson is a community near my house, where my instructor pilot lives. Fortunately, he's OK, but he thinks a relative and a friend are among the dead.

No solid reports out yet, and those that are out are sketchy. Some others were apparently killed in Geneva, just down the road from Samson and about 10 miles from my house.

The police apparently killed the shooter.

Surreal situation.

Edit: to add Dothan's Web site and update the number killed. I'll report more when I hear it.

TBF, who is Rickey Stokes?

Rickey Stokes is a local media type who tried, recently, to take over one of the local TV stations. I think he's got something to do with one of the smaller papers around. He also owns a bail bonds place. He runs a small, somewhat rumor-based news site.

Local news just reported the killer drove to his girlfriend's house and killed her and her mother, then burned the house.

Drove to another house and killed four there.

Drove to Geneva (just down the road), killed one more and then to Sampson and killed five more. 12 now reported killed.

Apparently had just been laid of from the store where he was killed, maybe by police, maybe self-inflicted. That's still murky.

AP's story has it being his own mother's house that he burned down. Their death toll remains at 10. I'm sure it'll take a while to get all the final numbers.
