Garcia is scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent in March. One former teammate told the newspaper that he doesn't envision Garcia returning to the Eagles as a backup.

"I know Jeff and I know how he is," the unnamed former teammate told The Times. "After the way he played -- what was he, 6-1? -- and then he won a playoff game. He's not going to be happy being a backup again. He's way too much of a competitor for that. He should be going to the Pro Bowl the way he played. He knows that. Now, you want him to be a backup, and get paid like a backup. That's not going to happen."

Amazing. "Unnamed teammates" sowing dissension and politicking in the media for Jeff Garcia to be named the starting quarterback. Whod'a thunk it?

Let's see. On one hand, we have a 30-year-old 5-time Pro Bowler; on the other hand, we have a 37-year-old (in 3 weeks) burned-out washed-up has-been who has bombed out in three of his last four stops, and happened to have four decent games in a row late in the season.

Other than that, when the T.O. debacle went down, there were been several teammates who have questioned McNabb, like Trotter and Westbrook. Unless a few of them are "talking" again, if I'm Lurie and Reid, I would pay no attention. Donovan is the starter for 2007, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Period.

If you knew the market you'd know that The Times is on the fringe of the market - not in the heart of it like the Inquirer, Daily News, or any of the papers in the immediate Philly suburbs (Chester, Montgomery, and Delaware Counties) are. You'd also know that The Times isn't a crappy paper.
