What if the kid had been killed in a car accident on the way to the shooting range. Would we have had the same thread (and title)?

I like when you guys call me "Dickie" as if that's my real name and it's going to hurt my feelings.

Lots of sick burns on this thread.

If this guy had been distracted and rear-ended someone on the highway and killed that person, he could have been charged with a crime and/or forced to pay a civil settlement.

But we see people every day mishandling firearms or shooting someone who seemed threatening and no charges! Sorry. Don't see the reverance for firearms misuse.

It's more upsetting when people mishandle email.

Just as would have been the case had this guy been involved in an accident with a handgun.

This. was. an. accident.

Doesn't seem different than what Omar Mateen did, to me. He pointed the gun at someone, shot him, and killed him.

Just saying that people don't seem to be held legally responsible for gun accidents that lead to death or injury like they do other types of accidents.

Saw recently where a semi driver was distracted by his phone and ran into a car in front of him killing two people. I think he was sentencted to 30 years.

That was a straight-up accident as well.
