William Schallert, 'Patty Duke Show' Star, Dies at 93

Almost 400 credits, played the dad both to Patty Duke, the Hardy Boys and seven different characters on Gunsmoke through the years.

It’s got to satisfy a real need in you. Because otherwise you won’t be able to tolerate the bull****, which you’ll inevitably find.”

I stand corrected - Schallert played Nancy Drew's dad Carson. A guy named Ed Gilbert played the HB's dad Fenton.
