Hall of Fame pitcher Tom Seaver passes away at age 75

Given that he had dementia, I am glad that his suffering and that of his family have ended. It still sucks.

Was in an odd line of distinguished pitchers (Juan Marichal was another) who wound up on the Red Sox near the ends of their careers.

I was too young for his first Mets stint, but I remember the celebration when he came back to the team in 1983 and then the outrage when the White Sox claimed him as free agent compensation. Yet, his exit led the way to Doc Gooden. Although it would have been cool if they were teammates.

Just told that to my wife. He was my first favorite athlete. Saw him pitch a couple times as a kid. Once against Tommy John when John was a Dodger.
