RIP Terence Stamp

I know he did a lot in his career, but to a lot of kids, he was absolutely evil as General Zod. RIP Terence Stamp.

Like most people, l was introduced to him with "Superman 2" and General Zod. A few years later, in high school English class, we read "Billy Budd" and afterward, the teacher played the video of the 1962 film with Stamp playing the title character. It was interesting seeing him so young, because Zod was the only thing I knew him as.

I saw him later as the villain (or close to it) in movies like Bowfinger, Get Smart, and Young Guns. Actually, he probably would have been known as a classic "That Guy" if we wasn't so identified with the Zod performance. RIP.

Great voice. When I saw him in Wall Street when it first came out, I had no idea that was the same actor as Zod. Cool role in Red Planet as a philosophical scientist....but the Limey is his greatest role.

He was such a good baddie against Superman. Hell, when I see that scene when Superman kneels before Zod, but then crushes his hand and the fantastic John Williams theme comes up, I’m still a 6-year-old kid seeing it in 1980.

Stamp was a tremendous actor. RIP.
