... dies 14 years to the day after another Oregon football player, Todd Doxey, died, also while recreating in water near Eugene.

And it's been 35 years since Oregon basketball player Jesse Nash drowned while tubing in the Willamette River. Jesse had been passed out drunk on the floor of my dorm room a few weeks earlier.

The Spencer Webb story is sad as hell. He had overcome an incredible amount just to be there. He was essentially raised by his big brother.
