RIP Rick Hall

I went to Muscle Shoals and toured the FAME Studios about a year and a half ago. Walked around Rick's office, and I suspect it hadn't changed a bit in 50 years. They said Rick was still very active in the business, though he wasn't around that day.

The history there is amazing, especially given the location -- it's a dumpy little building wedged between a CVS and a Pizza Hut.

High point of the visit: I'm leaning slightly against an amp and the woman giving us the tour says "That's Gregg Allman's. We just got it back from the shop."

I was there about a year and a half ago, too. Our tour guide encouraged all of us to sit in Rick's desk chair. It looked like he hadn't been there in awhile. The whole room needed a good dusting.
