Finding a spare couple of city blocks in Manhattan shouldn't be a problem.

This decision creates TWO bonanzas for New York's construction industry and real estate developers -- rebuilding Penn Station, and creating the newest Madison Square Garden. Given the political influence of those businesses, it's a no-brainer for government.
The Garden has had multiple past locations over a century or so. One more's no biggie.
