NIT-PICKY EDITOR NOTE: Headline says prison, lede says jail. There's a whole lot of difference between the two. If your case is "The State of XXX vs. you", a felony manslaughter sentence will be served in a state penitentiary. Nobody spends 30 years in jail.

And in a weird (and confusing) twist, the city jail in New Orleans is called the Orleans Parish Prison.

In some states, short timers can serve their sentences in county jails (Texas has a "state jail felony" sentence that's 2 years or less, assume parole in a year or less).
 
His sister played basketball at my alma mater. I met her once when I was back on campus. I can't begin to comprehend how difficult it must be to lose a sibling or other family member to this kind of violence.

I'm also convinced there are six degrees (or less) of separation between those of us on this board, and every story on this board, that almost every thread has a ramdom connection to someone here.
