I didn't realize he was that old. Guy had a ton of energy on the Cowboys sidelines. I loathe the Cowboys, but he's the first (only?) special teams coach I think I could have ever picked out of a crowd by name.

Coach Joe has been a gigantic presence in the DFW sports media in recent years. Did radio shows, TV, Cowboys pregame and postgame shows, you name it. Very active.

I sure didn't see this coming.

very media friendly and fan friendly and had a huge personality. and as a country singer, he was a great special teams coach. rip, coach joe.

RIP to my* coach.

*Coached me at two Johnny Majors football camps, back in the day. Great guy.

Got let go by Bill Parcells, stayed in the area and coached Jerry's Arena League team till that league folded. Still heard him on the radio during the season. He was very popular among the fandom.

His name was on a restaurant in Frisco until a couple of years ago.

Wasn't he some sort of fitness/weight training fanatic? I remember seeing his testimonials in ads for Met Rx when the product first hit the market in the early 1990s.
