RIP Jimmy Buffett

I find it both amazing and loyal that a year-plus on, no one has chirped a word about what they did with Buffett after his death. If they buried him, I absolutely think the right thing is to keep the location quiet because people would flock to it. It's odd, though, that there never has been a simple statement: "He was buried in a private service at an undisclosed location" or "He was cremated, and his ashes were scattered at his request." I tend to think he was cremated because if they had buried him in a public cemetery, someone would have wandered by, seen it by now, and posted the location.
I also think it's odd there has never been any official tribute merchandise released from the estate. There is a ton pirated stuff available. I'd buy an official t-shirt. The family doesn't need the money, but I refuse to buy a t-shirt from someone on ebay or etsy profiting from his death.

It's been a year.

He was gracious, grateful and always a lot of fun. Some of his music, I really liked. A LOT. Some, meh. But he always was appreciative of his fans, his good fortune, hell, his fortune.

I've been re-reading A Pirate Looks at 50, and it dawned on me that I've been looking at 50 in the rearview mirror for a few years now.

I don't know. Where is the dramatic arc? Now if they made some biopic like Weird Al did, no thread, just a FFwd through some of the "notable" incidents of his life: Buford Pusser, getting shot at while flying, getting thrown out of a Heat game...I just don't see the "drama." He lived a great life. Now if he did an audio book, so you could use his voice to narrate some of these things - make it a quasi-documentary with embellished re-enactments? Now, you've got something.

Tom Petty’s daughter Adria is a filmmaker and did this film for her dad. It was fabulous.

They've been doing the Keep the Party Going shows to some success. The closest passing the torch I'd go with would be to Mac McAnally (even though he's 67).
I like ZBB and loved the collaborations, but a direct handoff would result in a dropped baton. The music and vibe just isn't the same.
