Legendary figure. Had to say though, my first thought was this was a news deskers dream around this time of year. You know his obit was written years ago and can fill a chunk of newshole.

When I clicked on this thread I thought for sure someone was going to get made fun of for posting 10-year-old news.

My second thought was that if this did just happen, he had to be well past 100.

I had the honor of seeing him come to our campus in early 80’s with 10,000 other students in our quad as he took on the divestiture cause. What an amazing speaker, I’ll never forget it.

I stayed at the Desmond Tutu hotel in New York a few years ago. It's closed now, I think.

That's all I got.

Seeing him operate in a regal atmosphere, and then appear on a show like Craig Ferguson and still dazzle, was amazing. RIP, sir.

As a Libra, I'm convinced justice is of particular importance to those born under that sign as their symbol is the scales of justice. So far, 13 Libras have won the Nobel Peace Prize (like Cordell Hull, Elie Wiesel, Jimmy Carter) and that list doesn't include Libras who should have won (Gandhi, Vaclav Havel).

Archbishop Desmond Tutu was one of the 13. RIP.

When I first learned of him in the 1980s, my first thought was “I’m glad my last name isn’t Tutu.”

And my mind jumped to a Johnny Cash song.

RIP on a life lived with much influence and change.
