He was 60.

This seems like an extreme overreaction by the Steinbrenners to something that can't rank higher than sixth on their list of problems.

RIP Big Tex. Definitely a Texas icon, right up there with Tom Landry and William B. Travis.
 
A few Dallas friends are saying people are calling for a big sheet to be thrown over Tex so he can be a ghost for the remainder of the fair. If he can still talk and the hand can still move, talk about creepy.
