just saw the 'SECond to None' headline on ESPN.com

can we retire this headline? i'm sure all of us, myself included, that have worked at a paper in sec country have used it. but really, it's not clever. it's become a cliche.

please add your own to this thread...

This could be the start of something big

(There's a paper in my former neck of the woods that would use this at least twice a year)

Anything with "brass balls" should be retired.

Though you'd think that would be a given. Sadly, no.

There's no way that "Roasted Nuts" hed is legit. Right? I mean, nobody is that stupid. Please say nobody is that stupid.

That hed is legendary, along with ``Headless Body in Topless Bar''

"Chief concern"
--If you really want it to, this could probably be used for every single Kansas City Chiefs story ever written. ESPN's fantasy site had this yesterday, belly-aching about Larry Johnson's lack of production.

"Special teams not so special"
--Hyuck, hyuck, hyuck.

I SECond that.

I don't consider it an official sports year until I have Bucs or Pirates shivering someone's timbers.

"Hey, fishwrapper, would you mind bumping the head size down a few points. I have a great headline, but it's just a few letters long"

A couple from previous stops:

Ugly or not, Osceola girls will take victory

Lakers beat off Warriors

Cocks stick it to Beavers, and every other combo of USC, South Carolina and Oregon State heds every thought of, and used.
